Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get paid?
You handle all transactions directly with customers. We send you structured inquiries when your listing is claimed and has an email — you quote and close the sale. We don't take commissions or process payments.
What's the commitment?
Free listing is forever free, no credit card required. If we introduce paid plans after beta, pricing will be agreed with early shapers first — month-to-month, cancel anytime. No commitment until then.
What information do inquiries include?
Name, email, phone (optional), board type, experience level, height, weight, and their message. Unclaimed listings show contact details only — we do not send Sticks inquiries to shops that never signed up.
How is this different from Instagram or Facebook?
Instagram and Facebook are great for inspiration — but when someone wants a custom board, they search locally or browse service listings. Claimed listings with an email get structured inquiries in a dashboard. Premium is featured placement next to catalog boards — not the form itself.
Is this just a directory?
The free tier is a directory listing with portfolio, contact details, and — if you claimed the profile and added an email — an inquiry form and dashboard. Premium adds visibility in board guides and comparisons.
How many inquiries should I expect?
We're in early beta. Volume isn't guaranteed. Claim your listing, add an email, and share the profile locally. Featured placement is premium (free during beta).
When does beta testing end?
When we have enough active shapers receiving regular inquiries to validate what features matter most. Beta testers will get 30 days notice before any pricing changes.
Can I get a branded website from my profile?
Yes — Your Website (Beta) publishes a shopfront from the same profile you already edit: about, boards, and an inquiry form at sticks.surf/site/your-name. Toggle it on from your shaper dashboard next to Premium. A custom domain (yourbrand.com) is not included; you buy that separately, and we can help purchase it and set it up if you want one.
