ShaperThe Seasons Story
The 'Seasons Story' began in the early 1970s, where a then-grommy Bryan 'BJ' Smith landed his first job at Blue Spirit Surfboards in Auckland.
As all wannabe shapers start out, he began gluing up blanks, sanding boards and repairing dings. While his days were spent as a ding-boy, at night he would sketch ideas for his own company — and in 1979, Seasons Surfboards was created.
After ten years in 'the city', Seasons found its new home in New Plymouth, where the Smith family could live the surf-at-your-door lifestyle.
By the early 90s, Seasons had built up a strong group of riders in New Plymouth, and over the next few years the team racked up multiple National Championships.
Forty-four years down and Seasons still holds the same beliefs as it did when it was just an idea on a piece of paper: surfing is about the lifestyle, the family culture, and enjoying your time in the water.
