Rook 15

Quick expert verdict
The Channel Islands Rook 15 is a high-performance shortboard, an updated and modernized version of the classic Rookie model. It is designed for intermediate to advanced surfers, including competitive athletes, and is considered a workhorse by many Channel Islands team riders. Its design facilitates tight turns in the pocket, consistent bottom turns, and controlled top turns, making it highly responsive for progressive surfing maneuvers and quick cutbacks.
Key features include a single concave running throughout the board, deepening into the fins, a pulled-in tail with a narrower tailblock, and significant rocker. Compared to its predecessor, it's slightly shorter and wider, offering improved paddle power and wave-catching ability. The design also reduces swing weight, allowing for harder and faster turns.
The Rook 15 excels in powerful, good quality waves, ideally waist-high to chest-high and above, including hollower and steeper conditions. It has been noted to perform well in waves up to 8-10 feet, providing excellent traction and holding ability. However, its pronounced rocker makes it less suitable for mushy or less powerful waves, where it struggles to maintain drive.
This board is an excellent choice for surfers looking to elevate their performance in quality surf, serving as a reliable everyday board in a three-board quiver for good conditions.

đŦOfficial Presentation of Rook 15
First seen on the WCT tour in 2010, the Rookie has been rediscovered by our entire CT team this year; Seabass, Kelly, Adriano, Lakey, Bianca, Sage and Kai all have won heats on the new Rookie 15. Ridden shorter and wider than the original, the Rook 15 is the ultimate contest workhorse. Single concave throughout, the Rook 15 works best when on rail. Ride this board your same height to 2â longer.
