Domed Deck
The foam tapers from a thick center stringer down to thinner rails. This allows a board to have high volume (for paddling) while keeping the rails sensitive and responsive for turning.

Flat Deck
The thickness remains relatively constant from the center to the rails. This provides a stable platform and maximizes volume in a smaller package. However, the boxier rails can feel less sensitive.
