Overview
How the rails 🛤️ shapes performance
Soft Rails
Rounded and smooth, with no distinct edge. Soft rails hold onto the water, making the board more stable and forgiving. They are harder to turn sharply but great for smooth cruising.
Common on: Longboards, Mid-lengths, Beginner boards.
Hard (Boxy) Rails
Sharp and angular, especially near the tail. Hard edges allow water to release cleanly, generating speed. They bite into the wave face, allowing for high-performance turns.
Common on: Shortboards, Performance Hybrids.
