The Stringer

The spine of the surfboard. Traditionally a strip of wood running down the center, it provides structural strength and controls the board's flex pattern.

How the stringer shapes performance

Wood Stringer

The classic choice (usually Basswood or Ply). Provides a natural, predictable flex pattern that dampens chop. Feels "alive" but can lose its "pop" over time as the wood fatigues.

Classic Feel

Carbon Strip

Often used on stringerless EPS/Epoxy boards. A strip of carbon fiber on the deck or bottom adds strength and creates a snappy, high-energy flex pattern. Very responsive.

Parabolic Rails

Instead of a center stringer, the reinforcement runs along the rails (often carbon or high-density foam). This allows the center of the board to flex more, loading up energy in turns like a spring.
